Therapy for Trauma in Ottawa:
Is it finally the right time for therapy work to heal the deep wounds your past has left you with?
Addressing past trauma is complicated… Whether you want to work through past sexual assault, domestic violence, childhood abuse, CSA, or incest, we need to build a stable frame to contain this work.
Recovering from deeply traumatic events & environments is not a “quick fix” – it takes time to build safety within yourself & within the therapeutic alliance.
Connect to Calm provides a staged approach to working with trauma; you set the pace & maintain control at all times. First, we’ll prioritize addressing the most upsetting symptoms (like nightmares or PTSD flashbacks). We’ll make sure you have the necessary tools to be able to unpack distressing content & past memories.
When you are ready, therapy models like Trauma-Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TF-ACT) & Emotionally-Focused individual Therapy (EFiT) provide a clear “road map” to healing. You are involved in the process of choosing which treatment modalities are most helpful.
Connect to therapy that is calming, mindful, trauma-informed, feminist, sex-positive, & queer-friendly.
